Then prompted to him his soul (to) kill his brother, so he killed him and became of the losers.
But the other's passion drove him to slaying his brother; and he slew him: and thus he became one of the lost

The (selfish) soul of the other led him to the murder of his brother: he murdered him, and became (himself) one of the lost ones
Yet Cain convinced himself to kill his brother, so he killed him—becoming a loser.

Then the (ill-commanding) self of Qabil (Cain) made the killing of his brother Habil (Abel) easy (and tempting) for him. So, he killed him and became one of the losers
But (the baser instincts of) his mind prompted him (whose offering was not accepted) to kill his brother (whose offering was accepted), so he killed him, wherefore he became one of the losers
So the Nafs (self) of the other (latter one) encouraged him and made fairseeming to him the murder of his brother; he murdered him and became one of the losers

He succumbed to his evil thought of slaying his brother and he killed him, only to incur the loss of the noble qualities of the soul and be one of those born to be losers
So his soul willed for him, the murder of his brother, he thus killed him and thereby became one of the losers.
